About the event

Kay Smith-Blum, debut author and winner of the Bronze medal for the John Steinbeck Literary Award from the Historical Fiction Company, speaks at the El Gabilan Library on October 16th in Steinbeck country, Salinas, CA. KSB dives deep into the craft behind the multi-award-winning novel, TANGLES, centered on the Hanford Nuclear Reserve during the Cold War years, and how she is redefining historical fiction with this cross-genre tale. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about our past nuclear history and present-day legacy, as Smith-Blum peels back the layers of the worldwide arms race that resulted in the US housing over 56 million gallons of nuclear waste to clean up. Bring your questions and don't miss the opportunity to have your copy of TANGLES personalized. Downtown Book & Sound will offer copies of TANGLES prior to KSB's talk, and again on Friday, October 17th at 5pm to 7pm.
